First oral and writing assessments coming soon!

After you finish your book and get ready to present, it is time to start studying for your first writing proficiency and oral proficiency exams.  We will do a practice written test in class so that you can see what it is first.

Periods 1 & 4:
-Writing exam is on Oct. 14.
-Oral exam is on Oct. 17

Period 7:
-Writing exam is on Oct. 15.
-Oral exam is on Oct. 18.

The topics are on the tops of the rubrics that I gave you guys.  The rubrics explain how you will be graded and what you need to include.

Proyecto 1

Complete your animal book! 
Period 7:  Present and turn in book on Mon., Oct. 7
Period 1 & 4:  Present and turn in book on Tues., Oct. 8

If you finish, start studying for you writing and oral assessments.

Tarea #8

Describe how you feel about each animal in your book and why using the verbs like gustar.

Example:  Me fascinan los delfines porque son mamiferos y pueden nadar bien y saltar.

or

Me encantan las ovejas porque son tranquilas.

animal body parts and verbs (stem change, verbs like gustar, verbs that relate to animals: comer, vivir, volar, dormir, nadar, poder)

Add to your book a physical description of each animal which includes body parts.

Donde vive?

You should now have 8 animals in color labeled in Spanish.  This assignment adds 2 sentences of text about each animal.  Leave space because we will continue to add more info to each animal.

Due:  el lunes, el 23 de septiembre

Tarea #5

Create a 16 page book - due next class period

On the first 8 pages (each time you turn a page), draw and color an animal and write the name of the animal in Spanish.  This is your opportunity to choose animal vocabulary that you need to work on. 

This is the beginning of a project that we will keep expanding on! 

Tarea #4

After getting settled in the classroom, I'm ready to start posting your homework.  Sorry I have been behind.  Hmwk #1 was a signed syllabus.  #2 was from the verb packet, p.4-5, parts A and B.  #3 was labeling the human body. 

Homework #4 is the first page of the animal packet, all about pets.  Label the pets and describe your's on the bottom. 

Next class will be farm animals!

Welcome to the first week of school

Welcome to Spanish 5-6!  You guys are beyond the two years required for high school graduation ... congratulations!  We will be working on Spanish proficiency a lot this year:  reading, writing, speaking and listening.  You will also begin talking about some real world situations, like going to the doctor and environmental issues.  This class is taught in Spanish.  Remember that it is not important to understand every single word, but rather get the gist of things. You are expected to speak only in Spanish while in my class.  Although this may sound intimidating, I guarantee that it is the most useful thing that you could do to improve your Spanish without going to another country and being forced to be immersed in it.  I look forward to this year with all of you!
